Standard for Measurement of Automotive Environmental Magnetic Field Strength Released

IEC 62764-1:2022 specifies the methods used to determine the risk of exposure to multiple magnetic field sources for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles, including standardized operating conditions and measured volumes and/or surfaces. This part of IEC 62764 is applicable to the assessment of human exposure to low-frequency magnetic fields generated by automobiles. For electric vehicles, this includes electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) and related cables provided by vehicle manufacturers, excluding charging stations.

This standard specifies that in the selected vehicle environment M1 and N1 passenger cars and commercial vehicles defined in 3 [1. This standard provides standardized operating conditions and defines recommended measurements to assess compliance with the applicable exposure risk requirements. The standard covers a frequency range of 1Hz to 100kHz and is applicable to any type of engine and/or internal energy sources.
