On October 14, 2022, the Brazilian RF regulator, the National Telecommunications Administration (ANATEL), issued New Act No. 13423 to postpone the implementation of New Act No. 5159, which was originally scheduled to start on October 26, 2022. Act No. 5159 establishes the technical requirements and test procedures for mobile phone chargers.
The main contents of Act No. 13,423 are as follows:
(1) The current Act No. 3481 will be cancelled on October 21, 2023 and replaced by the new Act No. 5159.
(2) Maintain the effective date of new Act No. 5159 on October 26, 2022.
(3) The date of enforcement of new Act No. 5159 was extended to October 21, 2023.
To sum up, from October 26, 2022 to October 21, 2023, the original Act No. 3481 or the new Act No. 5159 are applicable to chargers within the regulatory scope.
